Bug: Movement Delay/Slippage with Keyboard and Mouse Post-Update

Movement Delay/Slippage with Keyboard and Mouse Post-Update

Status: Duplicate
Added by: Anonymous on September 8, '26
Reported for:
Actual Result:
Movement inputs can remain active after releasing WASD, causing the character to continue moving. Movement/turning can feel delayed or slippery and sometimes feels unusually tied to mouse/camera movement.
Expected Result:
Character movement should stop immediately when a movement key is released and WASD movement should respond normally and independently of mouse/camera movement.
Severity:
Major
Reproducibility:
Always
Platform:
Steam
Additional Notes & Comments:
This issue is severe enough that the game is currently nearly unplayable for me on keyboard and mouse. Movement does not reliably correspond to my keyboard inputs. My character can continue moving after I have released a WASD key, and movement/turning sometimes feels as though it is being influenced by the direction of my mouse/camera. This issue only occurs in Dead by Daylight. I have tested other games on the same PC with the same keyboard and Razer DeathAdder mouse and have no input problems. I have already reinstalled DBD, reset the game's configuration files, restored default keybinds, confirmed that Windows detects no controller, and tested my connection (~30 ms). Disabling Steam Input reduced the severity somewhat but did not resolve the issue. The issue began after the recent update and is still occurring after the September 8 patch. Because accurate movement is essential for looping, pathing, skill checks/interactions, and normal survivor gameplay, the delayed/stuck inputs make matches extremely difficult to play normally.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Launch Dead by Daylight through Steam.
  2. Enter a match using keyboard and mouse.
  3. Move normally using WASD while turning the camera with the mouse.
  4. Release or quickly change movement keys.
  5. Character may continue moving after the key is released and/or movement feels delayed, slippery, or unusually tied to camera movement.

Explanation

Since the recent update, movement with keyboard and mouse has become extremely delayed/slippery and makes the game nearly unplayable.

My character will sometimes continue moving after I have already released a WASD key. Movement and turning can also feel as though my character is being controlled/steered by my mouse/camera rather than responding directly to my keyboard.

The issue occurs only in Dead by Daylight. My keyboard and mouse work normally in every other game I have tested.
