Mesh Deformation Bug in 'Brutal Awakening' Torso Cosmetic on Rick Grimes

Status: Under Investigation
Priority:
Medium
Added by: Anonymous on August 3, '26

Due date:
Reported for:
Actual Result:
Rick's right chest geometry caves in, creating an unnatural gap/indent near his sternum whenever his arm moves during Gestures 1 & 2 and unhook attempt animations.
Expected Result:
His chest geometry should deform smoothly and naturally with his shoulder and arm movements without caving in or tearing the mesh during gestures.
Severity:
Cosmetic
Reproducibility:
Always
Platform:
Steam
Additional Notes & Comments:
This weight painting issue affects multiple arm movements. I have attached screenshots showing the chest caving in during both Emote 1 (Point) and Emote 2 (Wave), as well as during unhook attempts.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Select the Survivor Rick Grimes.
  2. Equip the Brutal Awakening torso piece (hospital gown).
  3. Load into any Trial.
  4. Press key/button for Gesture 1 (Point) or Gesture 2 (Wave / Come Here).
  5. Rotate the camera to look at the center/right side of his chest while the gesture plays.

Explanation

There is a vertex weight painting and mesh deformation bug on Rick Grimes's "Brutal Awakening" torso cosmetic. The inner side of his right pectoral muscle collapses inward, creating a sharp gap/indent in his chest whenever his arms move. This is especially noticeable when triggering Survivor Gesture 1 (Point) and Gesture 2 (Wave / Come Here), as well as during the hook "Attempt Escape" animation.
