The game randomly crashes in the middle of a public match and closes to the desktop. The Dead by Daylight Crash Reporter appears and reports an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION error. After restarting the game, the match is counted as a disconnection and a matchmaking penalty is applied, even though I did not intentionally leave the match.
|
| Expected Result: |
The game should remain stable throughout the match without crashing. If an unexpected game crash occurs, it should not be treated as an intentional disconnection or result in a matchmaking penalty.

| Additional Notes & Comments: |
This issue has occurred multiple times on my PC and happens randomly during active gameplay. It has happened while playing both Survivor and Killer, so it does not appear to be limited to a specific role or character. I am currently on version 10.1.1. The crashes have resulted in repeated matchmaking penalties, despite the crashes being unintentional. I have already submitted the crash reports with logs whenever the Crash Reporter appeared. Please investigate the cause of these mid-match crashes and ensure that unexpected game crashes are not treated as intentional disconnections.

Steps to Reproduce
- Launch Dead by Daylight on PC through Steam.
- Start a normal public match as either a Survivor or Killer.
- Play the match normally for several minutes.
- Continue playing until the crash occurs randomly during the match.
- The game suddenly closes and the Dead by Daylight Crash Reporter appears.
- The crash reporter shows an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION error.
- After restarting the game, the previous match is counted as a disconnection and a matchmaking penalty is applied.
- The crash does not occur at a specific location or action and appears to happen randomly during gameplay. It has occurred with both Survivor and Killer.
Explanation
Dead by Daylight repeatedly crashes in the middle of matches with an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION error. The crashes happen randomly while actively playing, and they have occurred while playing both Survivor and Killer.
When the game crashes, the match is treated as a disconnection and I receive a matchmaking penalty even though I did not intentionally leave the game. I have already received multiple penalties, including 30 minutes and previously 1 hour.
I am currently playing on version 10.1.1, and the issue is still occurring. This has happened multiple times and is making the game difficult to play because I risk receiving increasingly longer penalties whenever the game crashes. I have submitted the crash reports and logs through the in-game crash reporter.
